20th Anniversary Film: Creating a Lasting Legacy

Happy 2018! Please watch this new film of the Judith Trust 20th Anniversary event. It explains how we will be moving forward, to help those with learning disabilities and mental ill health and how, through innovative projects,  we hope to create a lasting legacy.  

In June 2017, the Trustees, Advisors, colleagues and partners of the Judith Trust gathered at the Royal College of Nursing to celebrate the 20th anniversary since its foundation. Twenty years of funding projects and research into learning disability and mental ill health, closing the gaps in policy and practice, and promoting inclusion. We were delighted that 80 delegates from the projects we funded and worked with in partnership could attend, alongside other experts, charity partners and academics who support our work.

We were thrilled that Professor the Baroness Sheila Hollins and Rabbi Baroness Neuberger DBE co-chaired the day, alongside distinguished speakers and panel members. We were also delighted that Judith Lawrence, for whom the Trust was founded, could attend as Guest of Honour. Our Chair and sister of Judith, Dr Annette Lawson OBE, spoke about the Trust and its work for the past 20 years. We showcased that work with a film that was commissioned and played, showing those who work for the Trust and its beneficiaries in the projects we fund. The day was hugely successful and it was wonderful to  celebrate two decades of important work.

Moving forward, a new Strategic Plan for the Trust from 2018 until 2021, seeks to match-fund new projects with partners over the next few years. We have just closed the first round of applications. The Trust is in process of selecting a number of innovative new projects to fund, that concur with our aims. These initiatives will seek to close the gaps for those with learning disability and mental ill health. We will be specifically looking at The Criminal Justice System, Gender Empowerment, Children and Young People and Resources and Development.
